1 Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, add onion and cook until mixture becomes soft.
2 Add garlic and cook until fragrant about 1 minute, do not overcook as mixture will become bitter.
3 Stir in tomatoes, oregano and red pepper flakes, season with salt to taste.
4 Lower the heat and simmer covered for 15 minutes.
5 Remove the lid and add basil, cooking uncovered over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5 Remove from stove and serve over your favorite pasta noodle.
