STATEMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT AND MULTI-YEAR ACCESSIBILITY PLAN

Our Commitment

Pure Hothouse Foods is committed to providing an accessible environment in which all individuals have equal access to Pure Hothouse Foods’ products and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities. This includes creating and fostering inclusive and positive attitudes that are considerate and accommodating of all individuals, including people with disabilities. This also includes discouraging attitudes that devalue and limit the potential of persons with disabilities.

Our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlines our approach to establishing accessible products, services, employment and workplaces for persons with disabilities.

  1. Accessible Workplace Emergency Information

    We are committed to providing employees with disabilities individualized emergency information in an accessible way upon request. Pure Hothouse Foods will periodically notify employees of the availability of individualized assistance and prepare individual plans for employees who advise of their needs for accommodation in emergency situations.

  2. Training

    We will ensure training is provided to all employees, volunteers and other third parties who act on our behalf. Training will incorporate the requirements of accessibility standards and the Human Rights Code as it pertains to persons with disabilities. This training will be provided to new hires during orientation and on an ongoing basis as policies change.

    We keep a record of the training provided, which includes the dates on which the training was provided and the number of individuals to whom it was provided.

  3. Information and Communications – Accessible Formats

    We are committed to meeting the communication needs of persons with disabilities.

    Upon request, we will provide or arrange for publicly available information to be made available in accessible formats for persons with disabilities. The accessible format will be provided in a timely manner and we will consult with the person making the request to determine the suitability of the format.

      Our processes for receiving and responding to feedback are accessible to persons with disabilities. We will provide or arrange for accessible formats upon request. We will consult with the person to determine the suitability of the accessible format required.

    2. Information and Communications – Website and Web Content

      Pure Hothouse Foods’ website and web content conform with World Wide Consortium Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level A. By 2021, we will meet internationally-recognized WCAG 2.0 Level AA website requirements in accordance with Ontario’s accessibility laws.

  4. Employment

    Pure Hothouse Foods is committed to fair and accessible employment practices across all stages of the employment cycle:

    During the recruitment process, applicants are informed that accommodations are available upon request. We accommodate persons with disabilities during the recruitment, assessment and applicant selection process, as needed.

    Our offer of employment to a successful candidate confirms our policies for accommodating employees with disabilities. Similarly, our employees are informed of our policies to support employees with disabilities. We develop individual accommodation plans and return-to-work plans for employees that have been absent due to a disability.

  5. Public Spaces & Notice of Temporary Disruption

    We will provide customers with notice if there is a planned or unexpected disruption in the facilities or services usually used by persons with disabilities. This notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available. When a disruption occurs, Pure Hothouse Foods will provide notice by posting at the main entrance and on our website, or contacting customers with appointments or verbally notifying customers when they are making an appointment.
